Serving Plated Meals at your wedding
Plated meals are a wonderful, elevated style of dinner service that is highly desirable. This style of food is seen at events that want a more formal feel and want the meal to be more of a focal point. Below we will go through a few things to know about plated meals at Ravenswood.
Catering Prep Space
We have a wonderful catering kitchen for your caterers to prep food and get things plated. This kitchen includes prep tables, a hot box, ice machine, and refrigerator/freezer. Caterers are also welcome to use our Carriage House for dinner service break down, if preferred.
Guest Seating
Like buffet service, this is a style of dinner service where each guest must have a seat. In addition, many clients offering plated meals will also assign tables and/or seats if there are multiple choices of meals. This can easily be done with a seating chart, which can be on display during your cocktail hour. Just make sure your planner is readily available to direct anyone who is unsure of their seating assignment to avoid confusion.
Costs of Plated meals
Plated meals may come with a slightly higher price for many reasons. While caterers do not have to account for as much food as a buffet style service (since the food amounts are predetermined per plate) caterers will have additional staffing fees to accommodate for the extra servers needed to get the food to each table in a timely manner. Another added cost for plated meals will be plate lids, additional hot boxes, and tray jacks.
